Special notes on older Ecological Archives accessions.
Supplements do not necessarily include all items specified in the above format. Most supplements to articles published prior to 1998 were originally received and archived as part of the ESA Supplemental Publication Service (ESPS). The description and metadata section of these older supplements includes whatever readme file was provided, or the text of a paper cover sheet. Older paper supplements were scanned into Adobe .pdf images. Some older supplements with data of long-term value were also converted to ASCII files for ease of use. However, the .pdf page image is the official supplement of record; although due care was taken, the text conversions are not guaranteed to be error free, so check them carefully against the pdf images. Please report any errors to the Data Editor. Recent supplements may include spreadsheet or word-processor files, executable programs, and source listings, but in all cases possible we provide a generic ASCII, html, or pdf file. Supplements that include many files or large files may be available as zip or tar files for ease in downloading.
The original paper and microfiche copies of supplements prior to 1998 are on file in the Publications Office of the Ecological Society of America, or in some cases have been deposited in the archives of the Ecological Society of America at the University of Georgia.
