Table A1. Least squares mean plant response by site and ecotype (populations averaged within ecotypes) and analysis of variance (ANOVA) results from tests of similar mean distribution of ecotype response in common gardens sympatric or allopatric from their region of origin. Biomass (aboveground and root) and belowground net primary productivity (BNPP) were log-transformed prior to performing the ‘sympatric v. allopatric’ (SA) contrast. Total degrees of freedom for all models was 8 (model = 5, error = 3, site = 2, ecotype = 2, and SA contrast = 1).
