Appendix B. Statistical analyses of soft-coral genets. For each species of soft coral on the reef at Piti Bomb Holes, there are a minimum of two confirmed genets represented by the male and female colonies of Sinularia maxima, S. polydactyla, and S. maxima x polydactyla. We collapsed the species-specific data sets into a gender-specific data set (i.e., n = 2 for each species) in order to assess results using true genets. The mean value of interest in each data set, for each gender, was used as a single data point in various ANOVAs; the results of those analyses are presented below. Significantly, none of our assumptions in the manuscript are changed, even with the substantial reduction in replication used here.
