Table D1. Control stalk ANOVAs and ANCOVA for 2011 hand pollination and egg removal experiment. To examine if plants reallocate resources from treatment to control stalks, we compared measures of reproductive success using only control stalk data (except for total flowers per plant) from the 2011 hand pollination and egg removal experiment. Control stalk data should be similar across all treatments unless plants reallocate reources from control stalks to treated stalks in response to treatments. The following table summarizes ANOVAs (F statistics, followed by p values in parentheses) for different measures of reproductive success and predation rates, and ANCOVA for seed set, testing the effects of gender, hand pollination (HP), egg removal (ER), site, and their interactions. The ANCOVA for seed set included the treatment : control stalk ratio of flowers as a covariate. Significant factors and interactions (p < 0.05) are bolded.
