| TABLE B1. Seedling abundance, adult abundance and growth forms. Analyses in this study examined the survival of individual seedlings from these 163 species that recruited into > 3 seedling census stations in censuses between 2003 and 2007. Species names and morphospecies with temporary names in quotes are listed below. Temporary names follow the conventions of the Yasuní forest dynamics plot (R. Valencia and R. Condit, personal communication) or the Seed and Seedling Project at Yasuní (S. J. Wright and N. C. Garwood, personal communication). Data following each species includes: the number of new seedlings recruiting into the study between 2003 and 2007, the number of adults (> 10 cm DBH) per hectare and the basal area (m2) per hectare of adults (> 10 cm DBH) in the Yasuní forest dynamics plot, and the growth form. Growth form designations follow the conventions of the Yasuní forest dynamics plot (R. Valencia and R. Condit, personal communication; Valencia et al. 2004): T = tall tree, M = mid-sized tree, U = treelet, S = shrub. Species marked with an * represent the most common nine species, accounting for approximately one third of the individuals in the study. |
