Appendix A. Summary of stem density and basal area (m2/ha), based on six 200 m2 plots (1200 m2 total area) at five sites in tropical rain forest: two pairs of sites in upland/highland rain forest on the Atherton Tablelands matched for altitude but differing in substrate, and one site in lowland rain forest near Cape Tribulation (Myall Creek). Data for two size classes, stems with a diameter at breast height (dbh) > 5 cm and > 10 cm, are listed. The total number of stems at each site is given in brackets.
