Appendix A. Nested MANOVA on the effect of seascape (+ vs. – subtidal reefs), site (nested in seascape) and shore height on percent cover of mussels on the rock surface. Dependent variables were the percent cover of the three size classes: large/adult (>15 mm) mussels, juveniles/sub-adults (5–15 mm), and new recruits (< 5 mm), and the separated ANOVA on the cover of the patches of the different size classes. Significant P values are in bold.
