Appendix D (Table D1). Results for the “reduced form” of the model of endemic and rare species richness (Fig. 3 in main article). The reduced form model omits the composite variables and permits tests of the relationships among observed variables for significance. Z values are analogous to t values and judged similarly. Variable abbreviations are as in Appendix C, with the addition of LRR = log rare richness, LER = log endemic richness, C/M2 = calcium to magnesium ratio squared, LROC = log rock cover. Mplus code for both reduced form and composite models can be obtained from JBG.
