Appendix F. Experimental data of the influence of straw return on CH4 emissions.

In this appendix, the experimental data of the influence of straw return on CH4 emissions are laid out in Table F1. The table contains the following information:

  1. The name of the site;
  2. The type of the non-ferment organic amendments
  3. Amount of organic amendments
  4. Dry matter fraction of the organic amendments;
  5. Dry matter in the organic amendments;
  6. CH4 emission with and without organic fertilizer;
  7. Scaling factor of organic amendments
  8. References.

For a few pairs of data, the dry matter was calculated from the amount of carbon in the organic amendments and the carbon fraction of the dry matter.

The dry matter fractions of fresh Astragalus sinicus L. and fresh wheat straw were from “Organic Fertilizers in China”. Since there were no data available for the dry matter fraction for air dried Astragalus sinicus L., 0.85 was taken for the calculation as this value was widely used for other kinds of straw in IPCC: Good Practice Guidance and Uncertainty Management in National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, pp.4.58.
