The aquatic invertebrate data used in my analyses are given in the ASCII file bugdata.txt. The water temperature data for the site located 26 km downstream from Flaming Gorge Dam are given in the ASCII file watert.txt. The water chemistry data and other water temperature data used in my analyses are available from the United States Geological Survey (http://h2o.usgs.gov/). Below I provide explanations for the column headings in the data files.
File 1 - bugdata.txt - The aquatic invertebrate data used in the analyses.
Sample - a sequential number (101-500) assigned to individual samples.
Location - the location of each sample, expressed as the distance upstream (xxKUD) or downstream (xxKDD) from Flaming Gorge Dam in kilometers.
Sampling Date - The date the sample was collected.
Citation - The cited source, published and unpublished, for the data.
Sampling method - The sampling device used to collect the sample.
Sampling area - The area of the sample in square meters for quantitative samples or qualitative for samples collected from an undescribed area.
Density - The number of individuals of each taxon expressed as the number per square meter for quantitative samples or present for qualitative samples.
Phylum - The taxonomic classification of the organism at the Phylum level.
Class - The taxonomic classification of the organism at the Class level.
Order - The taxonomic classification of the organism at the Order level.
Family - The taxonomic classification of the organism at the Family level.
Subfamily - The taxonomic classification of the organism at the subfamily level.
Genus - The taxonomic classification of the organism at the genus level.
Species - The taxonomic classification of the organism at the species level.File 2 - watert.txt - Water temperature for a site located 26 km downstream from Flaming Gorge Dam.
Date - The date the sample was collected.
Time - The time the sample was collected.
Temperature - The water temperature in Celsius.
